Day 1 on Ubuntu tidying
2005-12-01Now I am quite sure I have to stay in Ubuntu for a while — because the situation for Chinese translations is quite a mess.
- No Chinese teams are present in Rosetta translation team page. At first I thought nobody has created those teams, and asked Rosetta admin to help creating them, only to find that they are actually created by others. Yet because they are not listed, nobody know they exist…
- … thus people end up working on their own. Individually. Without any collaboration. Sigh. I have to spend some time as a gatherer, contact contributors and collect them into team(s).
- And last but not least, make sure their work can be uploaded or merged upstream. When compared with contribution to Ubuntu locally only, contribution to upstream software benefits more people.
The Rosetta admins are really quick in response, and help added the teams into team page. Now comes the hard work…
